Comet #4 - re-built and going strong

Comet #4 was built from a factory supplied kit and had its first flight in June 1998 painted in a distinctive blue/yellow "USAAC" type colour scheme with the registration D-MOJE.

 D-MOJE seen in 2009

Over the years the aircraft has had a number of owners, including one who flew over 1,000 flight hours himself in D-MOJE. The aircraft has recently been re-built and now features a double canopy, strengthened undercarriage and a towing hook with a new white/blue colour scheme. D-MOJE is currently based in the Bavaria region of Germany and has flown over 1,950 flight hours in over 3,000 flights. Thanks to Hans P for this update.

Comet - New "Civilisation" colour scheme

I recently received some new photos from pilot Dejan P in Macedonia showing the new colour scheme on his FK-12 Comet.

The scheme has a civilisation theme - The port side shows the ancient Mayan people, the starboard side shows an ancient Egyptian theme. Both sides feature an astronomical comet flying across the sky an event that would have been viewed with wonder by these ancient civilisations. The airbrush painting was done by artist Kire Cvetkoski.

And here it is with the local Macedonian registration Z3-UA-005 applied

This Comet is c/n 055 and was previously D-MARS.

Many thanks to Dejan for sharing this Comet news.

New Comet #112

I was recently sent a photo of a brand new FK-12 Comet S2 - I understand this new Comet flies in Belgium with the French registration "16-TL".

The colour scheme was designed by Mirco Pecorari of AircraftStudioDesign.

This Comet is factory serial number 112, the highest production S/N that I am aware of at the moment.

Aero 2012 Friedrichshafen - FK-12 Comet exhibit

Europes largest general aviation trade show "Aero 2012" took place last week at Friedrichshafen, Germany.

FK Lightplanes exhibited their range of varied aircraft, the FK-9, FK-14 and the FK-12 Comet biplane.

The Comet exhibited at Aero 2012 is a brand new build Comet S2 model registered D-MFKJ painted in an attractive yellow/white/black colour scheme with construction number 098.

FK Lightplanes recently delivered the 100th Comet.

Comet #100 - Something Special

Back in March 1997 the very first FK-12 Comet D-MPLI took to the air for the first flight of this new design.  Now FK Lightplanes can celebrate the delivery of Comet #100.

Comet #100 and #101 have been sold to France and they are unlike any previous Comet !

Comet #100

These two FK-12 Comets are operated by Les Ailes de Pegase Experience from the airfield at Saint Estephe, just north of Pauillac ( which is just north of Bordeaux ).  Both aircraft were delivered in a basic white colour scheme but have now been repainted grey with sharksmouths under the engine cowling. Grey Sharks - Fierce Comets !

Ailes de Pegase offer FK-12 Air Combat Experience - both aircraft air fitted with laser guns and smoke systems. This is your chance to try aerial combat over the skies above the Gironde. Shoot well and the laser will trigger the release of smoke from the "enemy" Comet. The range of the laser is approx 200m.

Comet #101

The company has several ex military fast jet pilots who will fly with you to teach you the skills of close formation flying and aerial dog-fighting - it sounds great fun !

I'd like to thank Laurent Pons for this very interesting Comet news.

More details about Ailes de Pegase can be found on their website link below

New colour scheme for Comet OO-F67

Belgian Comet OO-F67 has now been repainted into a new colour scheme. This FK-12 Comet is c/n 20 and was delivered new in 1999 in the then standard yellow/blue colours with the side code "12".  The aircraft was originally delivered to a German customer as D-MPHM.

Comet OO-F67 in the original colour scheme

In 2007 this Comet was sold to a new owner in Belgium and based at the airfield at Hannut/Avernas-le-Bauduin.  The aircraft has recently ( Winter 2011/2012 ) been repainted in an attractive new yellow/white/black colour scheme with "Comet 12" side markings.

I'd like to thank Arthur for this FK-12 Comet news.

FK-12 Comet - Can you help ?

I am trying to identify the construction number of a French FK-12 Comet - I have been in contact with the owner and he has identified this aircraft as having had three previous French registrations.

The aircraft was built in 1997/98 and is believed to have been the first FK-12 Comet sold in France - the registrations are

1) 28-BI - the aircraft was painted silver

2) 73-KD - the aircraft was painted silver with lots of advertising text - See Link B for photo

3) 77-ALK - the aircraft was re-painted light blue and yellow

4) 25-UA - the aircraft is still light blue and yellow

Here it is airborne over the Besançon region - thanks to C Alabouvette

My guess is that this aircraft is c/n 3 or maybe c/n 11 or c/n 13 - can you help resolve this query please ?

FK-12 Comet c/n 8 - new owner

I'd like to thank Oliver Riche in France for telling me that he bought Comet c/n 8 in early 2008 - this aircraft was previously D-MRDM and is now registered in France, Dept 17 as 17-RB with a radio callsign of F-JXRK - He has named his aircraft "Angel's Spirit"

Thanks Oliver for providing this news update about FK-12 Comet c/n 8 - the picture above shows a happy Oliver flying over his Comet

D-EZWO - a special FK-12 Comet

I'd like to thank Hans-Jurgen Hundhausen for providing some more information about the unique FK-12 Comet D-EZWO.

This Comet is c/n 37 and was built from a kit - it first flew in December 2006 at Mainz-Finthen in Germany.

This aircraft is powered by a Wankel rotary fuel injected fully aerobatic engine rather than the usual Rotax 912. In addition the aircraft has a Silence Aircraft 2 bladed automatic variable pitch propeller.

D-EZWO has been designed to operate with a MTOW of 520 Kg allowing full two seat operations with a full fuel load - because of this the aircraft could not be registered in the German microlight registration sequence of "D-M......" ( MTOW 450 Kg ) - the aircraft is as far as I know the one and only "D-E....." registerd FK-12 Comet.

The aircraft has flown approx 35 hours by May 2008.

So if you see this unique aircraft take a closer look as it an extra-ordinary FK-12 Comet !
